Earth Hour encourages everyone from businesses to individuals to turn off their lights and pledge to support to a more sustainable future. Earth Hour 2017 is hosted by the WWF to raise awareness of our increasing Ecological Footprint. In Hong Kong, over 60 per cent of carbon emissions come from power generations. Since its origin in 2007 in Sydney, Australia, Earth Hour has quickly become THE largest collective environment event in the world.
Hospitality group GR8 Leisure Concept Limited presents you with two restaurants that are proudly participating in Earth Hour in the hopes of raising awareness of global warming. Enjoy a cosy candlelit dinner while supporting the global initiative for a more sustainable planet!
Cafe Roma
A sucker for beachfront dining? This cafe is perfect for you! Cafe Roma is situated in the most prime of locations on Park Island, being the only restaurant on the turf with an open-air wooden deck overlooking the beach. Serving delectable European cuisine using fresh quality ingredients (think pizza, pasta, burgers, steaks and salads), Cafe Roma is directed by Executive Chef Jaakko Sorsa and also has a fine selection of drinks to pair with the savoury dishes. Kid and pet-friendly, Cafe Roma is great for any all sorts of occasions—be it a quiet meal alone or a celebratory gathering with family and friends.
FINDS
The city’s first and only Nordic restaurant, FINDS is an acronym for Finland, Iceland, Norway, Denmark and Sweden and—you guessed it—serves a hearty range of Scandinavian cuisine (aka seafood!) which involves typical Nordic techniques such as smoking, curing and pickling. Highly acclaimed with raving reviews from local and international media (named Top 10 European Restaurant Award 2014 by WOM Guide), FINDS has also become the first western-cuisine restaurant in the city to enter WWF’s Ocean-Friendly Menu programme with its four-course sustainable seafood dinner menu!
Reading this after Earth Hour? Both restaurants are also active supporters of World Vegetarian Day, offer both vegetarian and vegan options, and have banned shark fins from the menu, making them a great eco-friendly dinner option regardless of the occasion.
