Fashion is one of the most polluting industries in our world today, second to big oil. The amount of water and natural resources needed and waste created by this industry is staggering. The harvesting and dying of yarns and textiles, the production and manufacturing process of a garment and the transportation of the final product can all negatively impact the environment. And, of course, there is still the laundering and disposal of unwanted garments.
The most accessible way to sustainable fashion is to recycle and up-cycle your wardrobe! Supporting brands that are making a conscious effort to care about where, how, and who makes their products is important as well. We have specially curated some of our favourite low impact pop-up markets here in Hong Kong to help you with all your sustainable fashion needs this holiday season.
1. Redress, Nov. 22–25

Founded by Christina Dean 10 years ago, Redress is an environmental NGO working to educate and enable the adoption of more sustainable fashion. Redress collaborates with fashion designers and retailers, as well as related industries such as manufacturers, schools, private sectors organisations, governments, NGOs, media and, most importantly, consumers.
We want to create a platform for industry collaboration to create a more sustainable future for fashion.

Conscious collaborator, Cristina McLauchlan of The Vibe Tribe, will be hosting Redress in her Conscious Cinema initiative. The message is to share and create awareness about conscious consumerism, and highlight the harsh realities and impacts the clothing manufacturing industry has on Earth’s natural resources and the environment. This event will feature the documentary Frontline Fashion and a round table discussion with Christina Dean of Redress.

2. LUXARITY, Nov. 22–Dec 2

LUXARITY’s vision is to create conscious living. Its mission is to integrate the community in striving for sustainability and innovation in recycling pre-loved luxury goods and up-cycling luxury capsule collections. All proceeds are destined to support talent who are focused on sustainability; conscious production and innovation; and working with fashion leaders, textile garment manufacturers, schools, universities, and multi-lateral organisations.

4. Fashion Walk X Foodie Holiday Market, Nov. 18–Dec. 31

Each product is carefully sourced to ensure all are ethical, made with recyclable packaging, and are BPA free. They are also all curated to reduce your plastic waste and carbon footprint.
With the amount of waste massively produced daily, and the difficulty to recycle properly, we discovered the most efficient way to take these issues was to produce less waste in the first place.
